Xiaomi Mijia Electric Screwdriver

The ever-thrilling yellow packaging from AliExpress (image got lost…sigh).

I’m so excited to see if the contents arrived safely.

The box looks fine.

It’s the Xiaomi Mijia electric screwdriver and a magnetic mat.

While shopping on AliExpress for something to post about, I saw this as a related product since it requires assembly. And what’s more manly than tools?

A pen-sized electric screwdriver…

I was instantly tempted and bought it right away.

However, the box condition is a bit concerning…

I wouldn’t have minded if it were just crumpled, but seeing some foreign substances on it during the COVID situation makes me feel uneasy.

Well, I’ll just throw it away anyway. Haha.

The front shows a printed image of the product.

The box material looks a bit cheap, as is typical for Xiaomi’s low-cost products.

The back lists the specs of the screwdriver tips.

Here are the contents: the main unit, a charging cable, and a manual.

Let’s take a look at the main item first.

The aluminum outer case is sleek and clean, as expected from Xiaomi, considering the price.

To open the case, just press the top.

Then the inner plastic case pops out.

The inner case is made of plastic, which feels a bit flimsy, slightly diminishing the sturdy impression from the aluminum outer case.

The screwdriver is held in place by pressing it out.

It’s well-designed, so it won’t rattle around inside, which could be annoying.

The screwdriver tips include various types, including star and triangle screws, making it perfect for assembling and disassembling mobile devices.

The tips are held in place by magnets in the case.

Here’s the main unit.

At the top, there’s a charging port and a torque adjustment dial. In the middle, there’s a rotation direction button. The grip is well-treated to prevent slipping.

The torque adjustment dial has three settings: 1, off, and 2. Increasing the torque doesn’t necessarily increase the rotation speed.

You adjust it by turning the dial.

There’s a satisfying click, but the dial feels a bit loose. It doesn’t feel particularly sturdy, but it doesn’t seem like it will break either. (What is this feeling?)

The charging port is a USB-C type, ensuring versatility.

Here’s how it looks in hand.

It’s comfortable and well-designed, making me want to disassemble something just for the fun of it.

With nothing suitable to disassemble, I ended up screwing and unscrewing a hard drive.

It might struggle with screws that are extremely tight or glued, but you can loosen those by hand first. The screwdriver’s power is adequate for most tasks.

When tightening screws, it won’t be as tight as manually using all your strength, but it’s enough to keep them secure.

The noise level is about what you’d expect from the video—just that wing~ sound typical of electric screwdrivers, which is part of the charm, right? Haha.

Overall, I think I bought a great electric tool that I’m very satisfied with.

Once the items I ordered from AliExpress for review arrive, I’ll assemble them using this.
